Karl Rogerson
Head Teacher

I am extremely proud to be the Headteacher at Billesley Primary school. I joined the school 12 years ago as Deputy Headteacher when the school was in special measures. It has been wonderful to be part of the journey that sees the school in the position it is in today. I am passionate in my belief that children can achieve anything in life if they are presented with the best quality education and that is what we aim for here at Billesley.

I have had 6 children come through Billesley school and I was a parent here for 26 years. During this time I joined the Governing Body in 2010 and have been an active member ever since, being here when we became an academy and reaching the dizzy heights of being an outstanding school. I have knowledge and work in the education sector and have always been an active member in striving for the best for our children.

I was successfully appointed as a member of the Senior Leadership Team in 2015 and was proud to support the school achieve a rating of ‘Outstanding’ in 2019. My responsibilities include leading on: Maths, attendance, pupil premium, staffing, community, tuition and Phase Leadership of Year 4, 5 and 6. I am passionate about providing equal opportunities for all pupils to experience success through connecting with our community and ensuring the highest possible standards of teaching an learning.

Staff Community Councillor

I joined the Billesley team in 2022, although I have been teaching since 2014.  In addition to my role as a class teacher in KS2, I lead on Maths across the school, which is something that excites me greatly. Since joining Billesley Primary School, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience of the community that our school is at the heart of, and I love being a part of it. I am passionate about our children - giving them opportunities, experiences and teaching them the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. I truly believe that children can do anything that they set their minds to if they are given the chance. We are here to give them that chance! Our children bring me joy each and every day and I have worked hard to build strong connections with them and you - our community - which I intend to strengthen further into the future.

Community Councillor

I have been at Billesley school for over 20 years, having had four children going through the school myself. I became involved in the setting up of the Parent Council representing the parent community and communication with school 13 years ago, where I have seen many changes. I am an active member of the PTA, where I have been involved in many events over the years. I became a governor at the school and was privileged to be a small part of the schools journey to become an outstanding school. Five years ago I joined the staff and as a Librarian and have a great opportunity to hear and see the children enjoying the books and listening to their enthusiasm over stories they have read. I am passionate about the children's exceptionable learning experience at Billesley, but also parents and wider community having a positive experience while entrusting their children's education to them.

Parent Councillor

My association with BPS began in 2017 when my children moved to BPS. I have seen over the years fabulous changes and opportunities provided by the school. Since moving my children to BPS, they have had many educational opportunities that go beyond the national curriculum. They have provided many great after school curricular activities too, for example - my daughter has recently been learning French at school and is planning on learning guitar in one of BPS after school clubs. I have also been fortunate enough to work for BPS as well as volunteering within BPS early years. Seeing all the challenging work BPS have put in to provide all children with equal educational opportunities has inspired me to go on and gain a qualification in supporting teaching and learning to enable me to go on and provide the same opportunities for the children I may encounter in the future.

Juliet Raynsford
Parent Councillor

My name is Juliet Raynsford and I am a parent member of BPS Community Council, with children in Nursery and Year 2. My favourite hobbies are reading novels, gardening and going for bike rides. I wanted to join the council because I am fascinated by all the exciting learning my children do at school and I love living in Billesley. So far on the Community Council I have learnt lots about Maths teaching and over the next year I hope to learn more about how the school strives to create an inclusive environment for all its learners.

Kerry Cockayne
Staff Councillor

I first joined the Billesley team in 2016 as a newly qualified teacher and since then have been proud to be a part of the school’s journey. Since joining Billesley Primary School, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience teaching in Key Stage Two, where I have been class teacher to Year 4, 5 and 6 classes. In addition to my role as class teacher, I have a keen interest in supporting other educators, both at Billesley and beyond, to develop and improve their own teaching practice in order to benefit the lives of the most important people within the walls of a school - the children. I’ve always had a passion for working with children, particularly those that are disadvantaged, and see it as my purpose to provide them with the best possible opportunities, whilst also inspiring them to achieve success. I truly believe that with the right mindset and motivation, disadvantage can be a powerful advantage.
